Camel Coated
Ever wonder how to achieve a polished look that requires minimal effort no matter what season it is? Enter the coveted camel coat — one of the few pieces of my outerwear collection that actually holds “year-round” status in my closet.
Each year, as the weather transitions from hot, to warm, to cold, I conduct my routine swap of wardrobe items to match the seasonal temperatures and the camel coat has proven to be a piece that I can rely on season after season.

As a woman that favours a neutral palette and admires dressing in every delightful shade that can be found in a rich, creamy cup of coffee, it’s no wonder the camel coat has made its way into my current rotation of outfits. And while the camel coat is no newcomer to stylish consumers today, it’s managed to sustain it’s classic outerwear reputation and has proven it’s timeless potential thus far. Here are a few reasons why this tried & true staple will prove to be that worthy investment you’ve been searching for to serve your wardrobe well beyond the trend-driven years ahead.

THE VERSATILITY FACTOR
The camel coat receives my stamp of approval when it comes to the cost-per-wear styling. One of the things I consider when selecting any piece to add to my wardrobe is the versatility factor and well, the camel coat does not fall short in this department. We usually connect the camel coat to business attire for a tailored/sophisticated take on the popular coat but lately, fashion enthusiasts have been taking a much more casual approach to styling this piece on the high street. I’m talkin’, minimal joggers and hoodies as seen on style icon, Hailey Bieber who actually pulls it off effortlessly in my opinion!
You can also dress it up with a skirt and thigh high boots for a night out on the town or dress it down with a pair of sneakers and a baseball cap like you see me demonstrating here in these photos. The perfect OOTD for running errands or a day of hitting the shops for some retail therapy. Either way, you’re uniformed for any occasion! The styling possibilities are pretty much endless, making it a universal closet staple that’s worth every penny.

THE LAYER-FRIENDLY FACTOR
I’ll argue that I keep mine in the coat closet year round because it’s the perfect transitional piece but it’s a known fact that the camel coat thrives during the autumn and winter months.
There are so many variations of the camel coat but the most classic option is the irresistible double breasted coat which always pairs beautifully with turtlenecks, hoodies, blazers and even chunky scarves and knitwear during the colder months. I’ve styled a fitted one here but an oversized fit is definitely on trend right now!

THE NEUTRAL FACTOR
The beauty of the camel coat is that it belongs to the neutral color palette making it easy to pair with pretty much anything in your closet. Whether it’s tan, beige or camel, there’s just something about dressing in nude tones that instantly signifies chic and expensive, even when it comes to the most basic of outfits (ie: sweatpants/t-shirt). Trust me when I say that neutral tones will forever be on-trend and aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
